Margaryta Paliy, born in Kharkiv in 1997, grew up in Brandenburg an der Havel and Potsdam and lives in Düsseldorf. A cultural scholar (M.A. in Germany and European Studies, University of Haifa), she led the Nevatim programme of the Jewish Agency for Israel for six years and founded the online community “Instajews”. A former competitive chess player (including medals at the 2015 European Maccabi Games), she teaches chess today. Seven of her books have been published by story.one publishing — among them the festival trilogy “Am Tresen” and “Der 7. Oktober”.
A reading with Margaryta Paliy: the Düsseldorf author reads from her books on Jewish life, the search for meaning and the game of chess — and opens the floor for conversation afterwards. Born in Kharkiv and raised in Brandenburg, Paliy combines narrative joy with clear-eyed presence in her seven books. A reading for everyone who wants to listen and to ask. Duration approx. 60–90 minutes; admission and venue per event listing.
